Congratulations to Crossroads President, Michelle Wilcox who recently celebrated her 30th anniversary of service!
December 20, 2023
Originally hired as an Employment Services Instructor in 1993, Michelle has served in many different capacities through the years including multiple Director roles, Senior Vice President of Housing & Facilities and Chief Operating Officer, before ultimately being promoted to President in 2022.
Upon reflecting on her 30 years, Michelle realized that what stood out to her the most were three constants:
Our Focus on Housing
Crossroads has had an unwavering focus on helping people secure stable homes since early 1994 when the agency launched our first housing program, leasing Navy housing in North Kingstown to provide the state’s first transitional housing for homeless families.
The People
Michelle also noted the tremendous employment longevity at Crossroads stating, “I have had the pleasure of working side by side with so many amazing people over these 30 years and I am proud to say that many of them have also spent decades working here, which speaks volumes about our culture, our impact and what a great place this is to work.”
Commitment to Our Work
Lastly, Crossroads has also always had a problem-solving orientation when it comes to helping those experiencing homelessness in our state. In response to the growing need in our community, for instance, Crossroads expanded our shelter capacity earlier this year, opening a 40-bed emergency shelter for couples on Hartford Avenue in Providence. We also recently broke ground on a 176-unit permanent supportive apartment building at the Summer Street Apartments in Providence.
“I consider myself so fortunate to have had such a great career at Crossroads and I look forward to many more years to come,” said Michelle.
Congratulations!
